FAQ
How do you approach training?
I use a balanced training approach rooted in clear communication, structure, and positive reinforcement. For advanced goals or behavior modification, I may introduce tools like slip leads, prong collars, or e-collars—but only when appropriate, and always with your dog’s well-being in mind. My training follows the LIMA framework (Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive), which means we always start with the gentlest, most effective methods before considering any other tools.
You can accomplish a lot with reward-based training and effective communication. At the end of the day, the tools and methods we use are dependent on the type of dog, the behaviors we are working on, and figuring out how the dog in front of you learns best.
What types of dog behavior issues do you work with?
I help with a range of behavior challenges, including leash pulling, barking, separation anxiety, reactivity, potty training, chewing, jumping, and fear-based behaviors. Whether you have a puppy, rescue, or family dog, I’m here to guide you through it.
Do you offer puppy training?
Yes! Our in-home puppy training focuses on early socialization, building confidence, and establishing healthy routines from the start. Setting a solid foundation early prevents behavioral issues and ensures your puppy grows into a well-behaved adult dog.
Can you help with reactive dogs?
Absolutely! I’ve worked with many reactive dogs, including my own, Nova. If your dog barks, lunges, or struggles with overstimulation, we’ll focus on understanding the "why" behind these behaviors. Reactivity varies from dog to dog—while some show major progress, others may need ongoing management. At Supernova Dog Training, we don’t promise quick fixes, but we do offer a personalized, long-term approach to help you and your dog build confidence and control together.
