Welcome!
My name is Raul,
founder of SUpernova Dog Training.
to the left is Nova,
my teacher, and inspiration To Becoming a professional Dog Trainer
I’m a balanced dog trainer serving the San Francisco Bay Area, passionate about helping dogs and their owners build a strong, respectful bond.
I specialize in in-home dog training, private lessons, and obedience training tailored to your dog’s unique needs. Whether you're dealing with behavior issues or starting fresh with a new puppy, my goal is to help you create a well-mannered dog and a peaceful, happy home.
If we aren’t hiking in the redwoods or at the beach, we are probably at Pour Decisions Craft San Jose enjoying our morning coffee together.
My Story
While others mingle, I’m usually the introvert making best friends with someone’s dog.
I grew up with, and always loved dogs of all breeds, especially large ones — they've been a big part of my life.
My love for dogs started with my first family dog, Chester.
In 2014, a few months after we lost Chester, my dad adopted Opie, our second family dog. He was my intro to dog training at a surface level where I taught him basic obedience

Nova
In 2020, my wife and I brought home Nova — our first dog together and my dream German Shepherd.
I thought I was prepared. I’d done the research. But balancing school, work, and a high-energy dog during a pandemic was more than I expected.
Despite early obedience success, I missed out on some key training, and made some mistakes. By the time I graduated from SJSU, Nova had developed serious behavioral issues — a mirror of my own lack of consistency and structure. That realization pushed me to take accountability and dive deep into the world of dog training. Reading, researching, practicing and learning from the best in the industry.
Training Nova didn’t just change her—it changed me. I found clarity, purpose, and peace in the process. Still, I hesitated to take the leap into professional dog training, even as people around me asked for help with their dogs.
Then I was diagnosed with kidney cancer. The fear of leaving Nova behind without the structure we had built was crushing. In the months leading up to surgery, I focused fully on her training. Our daily walks, filled with audiobooks and quiet connection, became my therapy. I watched her grow into the balanced, confident dog I now call Supernova.
After a successful surgery and a second chance at life, I made a promise—to turn my passion into something real. That promise became Supernova Dog Training, where I now help dogs and their humans throughout San Jose and the South Bay Area build strong relationships through balanced dog training, structure, and trust.
My Reality Check
The Birth of Supernova Dog Training
In 2025, I launched Supernova Dog Training, inspired by my own dog, Nova, and built on the belief that structure, communication, and care can transform the lives of both dogs and their people. Based in San Jose, California, I proudly serve dog owners across the South Bay Area, including Campbell, Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, Los Gatos, and surrounding communities.
Supernova Dog Training offers personalized, balanced dog training programs tailored to each dog’s needs. Whether you're dealing with leash reactivity, puppy training, basic obedience, or more serious behavioral issues, I provide in-home and private dog training solutions that create real-life results. My mission is to help dogs become confident, calm, and well-mannered companions—while giving owners the tools they need to succeed.
Giving Back
Each week, I volunteer my time working hands-on with shelter dogs in the San Jose area, helping them build confidence, trust, and essential life skills through positive training and thoughtful socialization.
This work fuels my mission as a dog trainer: to advocate for the dogs who often get overlooked and to give them the tools they need to thrive—not just survive. It’s also a powerful reminder that every dog, regardless of their past, deserves the chance to become a well-balanced companion with the right guidance and care.
Let’s Work Together
Whether you're raising a puppy, working through behavioral challenges, Or just want a well behaved dog
I'm here to help you and your dog thrive — together.
I had Chester’s paw — my first dog — tattooed on my forearm a few months after we lost him. It’s both a tribute to his memory and a promise to be the best dog owner I can be for every pup that comes into my life.
